Happy 1st Day of Spring Everyone!
I am actually so excited for it to not be winter anymore, like it’s about time (lol get it??). I absolutely hate cold weather and I’m super jealous of anyone who lives somewhere that’s warm all year round. Warm weather is my favourite. With this in mind, yay it’s spring! Spring means lots of baby animals, fashion is changing and colours are soft. I love this time of year, it literally represents new beginnings and growth.
This is the time of year where the snow and heaviness melts away and we are able to see the grass again. Greenery returns and new plant life blossoms. Like nature, sometimes we need to let the heavy elements weighing down on our shoulders melt away. Sometimes we need to see the grass again. In this time, perhaps we need to create new beginnings for ourselves as well. As difficult as life may seem, there is always some tiny thing to do that can change your life.
Spring is such a fun time to be outdoors, like grab some friends and get out there! For the first time in months, at least here in Toronto, the air doesn’t slap you across the face when you go outside. You can explore your neighbourhoods and local parks (if they aren’t too muddy from melting snow). Go for walks or runs! Spring also brings the time of year where everyone I know suddenly snaps into exercise routines to prep for summer. I love this time of year because its not too hot or too cold to go outside.
I’m a little late on this bandwagon guys, I tried a macaroon for the first time last week and let me tell you, it was a spiritual experience. These little things are just so good! And this whole adventure was brought on by my Mom who made me get up out of bed and go for a walk. We ended up at the St Lawrence Market, and found a cute stall with lots of baked goods. Maybe this spring go adventuring, I’m definitely planning on doing more of this as the weather warms up!
In light of this, DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE WEATHER CHANGING. I’m about to sound like everyone’s annoying mom or grandma by telling you if its still kind of chilly out where you live, bring a jacket or sweater. No one likes being cold or sick, don’t be one of those people!
As I hinted before, spring brings lots of changes in fashion and colours!
These are some of my favourite things thus far for springtime! Nail polish has recently become an obsession for me (again). I love both the bright colours and the pastel colours for this time of year and because I am super impatient I need fast drying polish. These are in the shades Blue-Away and Cherry Fast. The glass dish that they’re in is from Urban Outfitters. I love pretty smelling soap; this was actually a gift from my one of my best friends, its hydrangea scented! The necklace is rose gold with a tear-drop pendant and is from H & M. Finally, I always like to have plants and flowers in my house, unfortunately they always die, I forget to water them…
Because I went to Rachel Platten’s concert I am begging you to listen to her song, Better Place. It is literally all bout new beginnings and the inspiration that can come from love.
This time of year is supposed to be light and bright and beautiful. Try to find inspiration in your surroundings and hold onto the idea that new things are coming. The world is yours.
