DISCLAIMER: Once again, if you hate Valentine’s Day I am very very sorry!!
Ah Valentine’s Day. The short-lived holiday; themed with teddy bears, flowers, and boxes of chocolate. The holiday for the hand holder’s, the aged lovers, and the kindergarten crushes. But alas, the chips have fallen and this year, you my darling, are single.
After last week’s post about being in a cute relationship,
I had to write this:
this is for my single ladies [and gentlemen].
Alright so you’re single on supposedly the most romantic day of the year. As much as it might suck to be single on Valentine’s Day there is an array of things you don’t have to stress or deal with. People are running around trying to please someone and you my dear can do whatever you want. You don’t have to (1) buy anyone a gift or card, (2) put ANY effort into your physical appearance; yah you wear those sweat pants, and (3) literally all the chocolate goes on sale the next day, treat yourself.
Do things on Valentine’s Day that you love to do. Whether that be, watching your favourite movie and eating ice cream, hitting the gym hella hard, or just hanging out with friends. Today should be just as much about loving yourself as it is loving a significant other.
Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be about being in a relationship. Celebrate the love around you. I hate to be cliché, but love is kind of like a plant. You have to water it to watch it grow. (I’m currently kicking myself as I write this because that was so awfully corny).
Celebrate your friends because they are the ones who are there for you no matter what. Celebrate your parents, whether that be in terms of their relationship with each other, or their relationship with you.
Although it may feel like it, you are definitely not going to be single forever. In the meantime:
